World Trade Centre
d-raw designed Reiss flagship was conceived as a stylistic companion to the new Madison 54th store, a similarly awe-inspiring venue designed to suit the frenetic lifestyle, appetites and ambitions of powered-up city professionals.
The core architectural theme hooks upon the notion of the skyscraper – in this instance as a clear symbol of both achievement and resurrection. This is manifested most vividly via a series of ‘rain’ screens that add depth and delineate the space, and an articulated ‘cloud’ ceiling – shards of colour-treated perspex that generate a sense of flux between day and night.
The colour and materials palette also relays the mercurial drama of the weather, with key furniture and fixturing elements including a ‘liquid metal’ scaffolding system, mannequin plinths harboured dramatically below low-lit chandeliers, a sculptural onyx cash desk and high-level smoked mirrors.
